Newly elected leaders in Kitagwenda District have officially begun their five-year term after taking oath of office and receiving instruments needed to run district affairs during a swearing-in ceremony held today Monday, May 25th/2026 at the district headquarters.
The ceremony marked the formal transition into office for district leaders elected to serve from 2026 to 2031, with leaders pledging to improve service delivery and strengthen cooperation in addressing community challenges.
In her maiden speech after being sworn in, Efrance Kenyonyozi, the newly elected Kitagwenda District LCV Chairperson, pledged to work with all stakeholders for proper accountability, infrastructure, and fighting corruption and deliver services to residents across the district.
Kenyonyozi called for unity among political leaders and technical staff, saying her administration would prioritize the needs of residents and ensure government programs benefit people at the grassroots.
As part of the transition, the new political leadership received office facilities, equipment and government assets intended to support their work over the next five years.
Hon. Polly Katuramu was elected as the speaker with his deputy hon. Evelyn Kasingye as deputy.
Hon.James Turyamureba from Kabujogera was appointed as the vice chairperson, Emmanuel Ntamushobora from Mahyoro sub county secretary for finance,Allen Komurembe from Kakatsi sub county secretary for social services and James Baguma former speaker secretary for works.
