Ibanda District Council has approved a Shs 41.49 billion budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, signalling a notable increase in funding aimed at improving service delivery across the district.

The approved budget reflects a rise from the Shs 36 billion that was passed for the 2025/2026 financial year, highlighting a growing allocation of resources to support key sectors.

According to budget details presented before the council last evening by Godwin Muhumuza the district speaker, the largest share of funding will come from conditional grants totalling Shs 26.9 billion, followed by unconditional grants amounting to Shs 9.4 billion.

Other sources of revenue include development grants worth Shs 2.6 billion, locally raised revenue of Shs 1.1 billion, external financing totaling Shs 600 million, and other government transfers estimated at Shs 688 million.

The Vice District Chairperson Elias Tumubweine welcomed the increase in the budget, describing it as a step forward in addressing the district’s development needs, noting that this increment from Shs 36 billion to Shs 41.49 billion is a positive move that strengthens our ability to respond to the needs of our people and improve service delivery.
