There was relief at Kyendangara Central Market in Mahyoro town council, Kitagwenda district yesterday as district authorities officially launched the facility, with new stalls.
The launch, presided over by the Kitagwenda District Commercial Officer, Musinguzi Fred, marks a significant milestone for local traders who have long awaited a permanent, organized trading space.
While celebrating the milestone, many traders expressed relief to finally move away from the harsh conditions they have endured.
The Chairperson of the market, Wallen Byamukama, took a moment to commend the Mahyoro Town Council leadership and the vendors themselves for their resilience and collaborative efforts in getting the market operational. While acknowledging the hardships of the past, he urged traders to remain hopeful and focused on developing the market into a thriving commercial hub.
Speaking at the function, the Mahyoro Town Council Town Clerk, Mr. Mugisha Pius, challenged the market leadership to uphold high standards of sanitation and hygiene to attract more customers and boost business growth.
In his keynote address, the guest of honor, Mr. Musinguzi Fred, emphasized unity among the traders. However, he issued a stern warning against poor sanitation practices, urging vendors to stop selling contaminated or dirty goods, emphasizing that such practices would not be tolerated in the new, operational facility.
