National Resistance movement and Kitagwenda Member of Parliament hon. Robert Mugabe alias Omutembuzi, has reaffirmed his commitment to human rights advocacy and substantive parliamentary representation, saying his decision to enter elective politics was driven by a desire to better serve citizens through Parliament.

Speaking during the inauguration of Nyabbani sub county council on Tuesday 19th May 2026, Mugabe reflected on his political journey and longstanding desire to save Kitagwenda county.

He explained that his transition into elective politics was a carefully considered decision, informed by experience and consultation with senior party leaders and citizens. Over time, he identified gaps in parliamentary representation that he believed could be addressed from within the legislature.

A celebrated human rights activist, Mugabe emphasized that his background has shaped his approach to public service.

He highlighted his readiness to contribute effectively to parliamentary processes once the House convenes.

The legislator added that he is ready to employ a privately paid lawyer to address legal issues affecting Kitagwenda local residents ranging from family to land disputes, a philosophy he believes will promote unity and development.

Robert also stressed his commitment to ensuring that KKitagwenda county’s concerns are clearly articulated on the national stage, and to advancing people-centered legislation and oversight.

In the recently concluded general elections held nationwide on January 15, 2026, Mugabe Robert emerged victorious with a margin of over 60%, defeating hon. Nulu Joseph Byamukama,Abbas Agaba and others.

Mugabe positions himself as a leader prepared to deliver meaningful change through principled leadership, strong advocacy for human rights, and informed participation in parliamentary business.
