West Nile and Busoga Provinces saw their FUFA Drum campaigns come to an end after quarterfinal defeats on home ground, with Bunyoro and Acholi advancing to the semifinals.
At Greenlight Stadium in Arua, West Nile bowed out following a narrow 1-0 aggregate loss to Bunyoro. After a goalless first leg, the return fixture was always destined to be tightly contested, but a solitary strike from Living Kabon proved decisive.
Despite a disciplined and well-structured performance across both legs, West Nile fell short, undone by a single moment that ultimately defined the tie. Their exit marks a bitter end to a spirited campaign, having shown defensive solidity and attacking intent throughout.
For Bunyoro, the victory is historic, securing their first-ever FUFA Drum semifinal appearance
Acholi took the lead in the first half through Emmanuel Ojok, putting the hosts under pressure. However, Busoga responded dramatically deep into stoppage time when Isaac Wagoina converted from the penalty spot to level matters and force a shootout.
In the ensuing penalties, SC Villa goalkeeper Jeans Brady Wokorach emerged as the hero for Acholi, saving two spot-kicks and calmly converting the decisive penalty to send his side through.
Acholi now join Bunyoro in the semifinals, keeping their title ambitions alive.
