Kitagwenda County Member of Parliament Hon. Robert Mugabe has confirmed that State Minister for Works Hon. Fred Byamukama will visit Kitagwenda on October 30, 2026, for a joint assessment of the Ibanda-Kabujogera-Mahyoro-Kyambura and Kabujogera-Rwenjaza roads.
Byamukama will be accompanied by Deputy Attorney General Hon. Jackson Kafuzi as government officials assess the condition of the roads, which residents have long complained are in poor state.
In a letter dated October 14, 2026, addressed to Hon. Kafuzi at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Mugabe confirmed the new date for the assessment, following the postponement of the earlier visit scheduled for October 9.
The earlier visit was postponed after the Minister of Works was delegated by the President to officiate at Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations in Dubai.
Mugabe said the assessment comes at a critical time as the government prepares the Financial Year 2027/2028 national budget, noting that the exercise will help strengthen the case for prioritizing the upgrading of the roads to tarmac standard and securing the necessary government funding.
The legislator welcomed Hon. Kafuzi’s commitment to participate in the visit, expressing hope that the engagement will help address the longstanding concerns of Kitagwenda residents.
The October 30 visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the officials to assess the road situation and advance discussions on the proposed upgrades, which are considered important for improving transport, connectivity and socio-economic activities in Kitagwenda and neighbouring communities.
