Rt Rev.Robert K Muhirwa Akiike the Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic diocese has urged Kitagwenda district leaders to intervene in church land disputes between Nyakera Catholic Church and a section of community members.
During a closed meeting with district leaders including members of parliament, district chairperson and the RDC held at the district headquarters on Monday, Bishop Muhirwa noted that expressed worry over a section of community members who are claiming the church land at Nyakera primary school.
He added that despite the district leadership being told over the matter, nothing has been done for long.
The bishop informed the stakeholders in the meeting that the church has all the documents pertaining the legality of the land.
speaking to our reporter after the meeting Robert Mugaba the Kitagwenda member of parliament noted that leaders resolved to dispatcha technical team to visit the area on 15th June 2026 to make a report that can be used to make a final decision over the matter.
