The LCIII Chairperson for Bisheshe Division, Julius Mugarura (alias Kamurari), has strongly condemned the illegal sale of public assets for personal gain.
He made the observation on Tuesday while addressing members the defunct Bigyera Kweterana Growers Co-operative Society in Kakatsi Ward.
He cautioned co-operative and local leaders against using their positions to engage in corruption or mishandling public properties for selfish interests, urging all future transactions to follow strict legal procedures.
Mugarura expressed dismay after discovering that certain members sold a plot of land belonging to the co-operative without the consent of the general membership.
He directed the immediate formation of an investigative committee to look into the illicit sale and oversee the revival of the defunct Bigyera Kwererana Growers’ Co-operative Society Limited.
