The Member of Parliament for Kitagwenda, Hon. Robert Mugabe, has been approved to serve on two parliamentary committees: the Committee on Health and the Public Accounts Committee for Local Government. The appointments are expected to strengthen his role in advancing health services and promoting accountability in public resource management.
Speaking after the approval, Hon. Mugabe said he would use the two committees to champion the needs of the people of Kitagwenda. He pledged to ensure that the positions translate into tangible improvements in healthcare and public service delivery across the district.
On the Committee on Health, Hon. Mugabe said his priorities include advocating for the elevation of Ntara Health Centre IV to a General Hospital, upgrading existing Health Centre IIs to Health Centre IIIs, establishing new HCIIIs in underserved sub-counties, and ensuring adequate staffing and consistent availability of medicines in health facilities. He also pledged to support Village Health Teams through improved facilitation.
As a member of the Public Accounts Committee for Local Government, Hon. Mugabe said he will focus on strengthening oversight of public funds allocated to Kitagwenda and other districts. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability to ensure government resources are directed towards improving healthcare, infrastructure, and other essential public services.
Hon. Mugabe said he would begin committee work immediately and promised to provide regular updates to his constituents on the progress of his work. He reaffirmed his commitment to using both parliamentary committees to deliver better healthcare services and accountable governance for the people of Kitagwenda.
