Residents of Kengyeya D Village in Kengyeya Parish, Buhanda Sub-county, Kitagwenda District are living in fear following the invasion of a suspected wild animal that has reportedly been attacking and killing goats.
According to the LC I Chairperson of Kengyeya D Village, Kamuntu Paul, the animal has so far killed four goats, leaving farmers worried about the safety of their livestock and families.
Kamuntu said the attacks have caused panic in the community, with many residents now afraid to move around at night or allow their animals to graze freely. He noted that the identity of the animal has not yet been established, making it difficult for villagers to protect themselves or their property.
He appealed to the relevant authorities, including the district leadership and wildlife officials, to urgently intervene by identifying the animal, trapping or relocating it, and restoring security in the area before more livestock are lost or people are harmed.
Residents have also been advised to remain vigilant, keep their livestock in secure shelters, and immediately report any sightings of the animal to local authorities as investigations continue.
