Over Three hundred people living with physical disabilities in Kitagwenda and Ibanda Districts are set to receive free wheelchairs in an outreach program by Father’s Heart Mobility Ministry.
The five-day outreach is scheduled to run from August 17th to 21st, 2026.
According to a letter dated August 6th and addressed to the LC3 chairperson Kitagwenda Town Council, Patrick Turyamureeba, the Ministry Director, Francis Mugwenya, says the donation follows a request made by local leaders.
Mugwenya says the wheelchairs, valued at over 25 million shillings, will be given to people who cannot afford the assistive devices, with the aim of improving their mobility and independence.
Of the 370, Kitagwenda will get 80 while Ibanda district and municipality will receive 290.
The distribution and fitting of wheelchairs for beneficiaries from Kitagwenda will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19th, at Ibanda Resort Hotel.
Beneficiaries from Ibanda District will receive the wheelchairs on Thursday and Friday.
The Ministry conducted training for pastors and volunteers on Monday, followed by a Worshippers Assembly on Tuesday.
The technical team from Father’s Heart Mobility Ministry, together with ministers from Ebenezer Worship Center Ministries, will be responsible for fitting and distributing the wheelchairs.
The Ministry has asked the Chief Administrative Officer to support the outreach with accommodation and meals for the technical team, transportation of the wheelchairs, and mobilization of beneficiaries.
People selected to benefit from the program, together with their caretakers, have been urged to make their own transport arrangements to Ibanda Resort Hotel for the fitting and distribution exercise.
hon. Patrick Turyamureba who lobbied for Kitagwenda district commended the foundation for the support to the needy disabled people in Kitagwenda who cannot afford funds to buy the wheel chairs.
