The Kampala Archbishop, the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, has urged married couples to build their marriages on a strong Christian foundation if they are to remain together for many years.
The Archbishop made the call on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, during the 25th wedding anniversary celebrations of former Ibanda Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Jane Bainomugisha, and her husband, Everest Bainomugisha, an accountant at Makerere University.
The celebrations were held at Lubaga Cathedral, where the Archbishop’s message was delivered by Msgnr Lawrence Ssemusu.
Archbishop Ssemogerere commended the couple for successfully navigating 25 years of marriage, describing their union as an example that can inspire young couples.
Everest Bainomugisha attributed their successful marriage journey to trusting in God, whom he described as the author of marriage. He encouraged other couples to put their trust in God.
His wife, Hon. Jane Bainomugisha, echoed the message, saying their 25 years of marriage have been sustained by God’s grace.
The couple also renewed their marriage vows in a ceremony led by Rev. Fr. Raymond Kalanzi, attended by family members and friends.
