A woman has been held as police investigate the suspected murder of Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu in Kibuli, Kampala.
She has been identified as Rose Tumusiime, although police had not officially confirmed her arrest by the time of publication. By press time, Tumusiime was being held at Kabalagala Police Division.
Preliminary reports indicate that Matovu was attacked after parking his Range Rover, registration number UAR 982H, by the roadside in Kibuli. He is said to have walked with the woman into a nearby corridor in the area, where he was later allegedly waylaid. The nature of their relationship remains unclear.
Police said Matovu was attacked by unknown assailants at Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division early Thursday, September 24, 2026. He was rushed to Kibuli Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries. “Our task team is currently at the scene conducting investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend the suspected assailants,” Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said. “More details will be shared as the investigation progresses.”
