The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kibaale District,Kamagara Godfrey, has urged young people to take advantage of government funding programs aimed at improving livelihoods, creating employment and reducing poverty.
Kamagara made the remarks during a radio talk show at a local radio station in Kibaale District, where he discussed various government initiatives targeting the youth.
Among the programs highlighted were the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP), Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and other government-supported skilling initiatives.
He said the government has allocated substantial resources to support young people in becoming economically self-reliant, but some beneficiaries have yet to fully utilize the opportunities available to them.
“Government has done its part by releasing funds; it is now up to you, the youth, to organize yourselves in groups and use this money profitably,” Mr. Kamagara said.
He cautioned beneficiaries against misusing government funds, stressing the need to invest the money in productive activities that can generate income and improve household livelihoods.
The Deputy RDC also warned leaders against discriminating against beneficiaries on the basis of political affiliation or religion. He said government programs should be implemented fairly and reach all eligible beneficiaries.
Kamagara further assured residents that his office would continue monitoring the implementation of government programs in the district to promote transparency, accountability and value for money.
