Minister for Finance, Hon. Henry Musasizi, has urged religious leaders in Kabale Diocese to promote wealth creation and mindset change among Christians to help fight poverty.
Musasizi made the call during the Thanksgiving Mass for the newly installed Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire.
He said the Church should complement spiritual nourishment with messages that encourage Christians to embrace economic empowerment and wealth creation.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, urged religious leaders to promote unity and avoid segregation among Christians. He also pledged Shs100 million towards the renovation of the Bishop’s residence.
Bishop Gubazire pledged to work closely with government and Christians to promote both spiritual and socio-economic development in Kabale Diocese.
The Thanksgiving Mass attracted government officials, clergy and Christians from across the Kigezi sub-region.
