The proposed inspection of the strategic Ibanda-Kabujogera-Mahyoro-Kyambura-Rubirizi and Kabujogera-Rwenjaza roads in Kitagwenda District has been rescheduled to 30th October 2026
This follows the postponement of the earlier visit which had been slated for 9th October 2026, after the Minister of Works and Transport was sent by the President to officiate at Independence Day celebrations in Dubai.
Kitagwenda County MP, Hon. Robert Mugabe, has now written two formal letters confirming the new date.
In a letter dated 14th October 2026 addressed to the Minister of Works and Transport, received on 15th October by the Ministry’s Head Office, Hon. Mugabe appreciated the Minister’s commitment to personally assess the road, which he described as vital to the movement of people and goods, agricultural marketing, tourism and access to essential services.
In a second letter of the same date addressed to the Deputy Attorney General, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Mugabe also confirmed the joint visit together with the Minister of Works and Transport. That letter was received on 15th October by the Ministry’s Security Registry.
Hon. Mugabe noted that since government is now in the budgeting process for Financial Year 2027/2028, the assessment will be crucial in pushing for the road’s upgrading to tarmac standard and securing the necessary funding.
“We look forward to welcoming you to Kitagwenda and to our constructive engagement towards advancing the long-awaited improvement of this important road,” Mugabe wrote.
The Ibanda-Kabujogera-Mahyoro-Kyambura road is a major link connecting Kitagwenda to Ibanda and Rubirizi districts and is a key tourism route to Queen Elizabeth National Park, while the Kabujogera-Rwenjaza road connects the district to Kamwenge.
The visit is expected to strengthen the case for tarmacking, a longstanding demand by residents of Kitagwenda.
