Kitagwenda District local government leaders,are calling for a united effort, stronger collaboration, and improved accountability to enhance service delivery and implement government programs effectively.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service for rev. Moses Dakitari the sub dean St. Stephen’s cathedral, East Ruwenzori diocese in Iryangabi, Kakatsi Sub County, a section of local leaders noted that as part of social service improvement, concerted efforts.
Eng Joshua Amanya the LC3 chairperson elect Mahyoro town council said that as newLeaders they will move beyond office work and engage directly with communities to identify and solve challenges in education, health, and infrastructure.
Combating Corruption and Promoting Accountability: Patrick Turyamureba Payi the LC3 chairperson Kitagwenda town council said there is a need for a strong call for technical staff, security officers, and politicians to work together against corruption, which hinders service delivery, particularly at the local government level.
Aligning with Central Government Initiatives: Bright Tumuramye the LC3 chairperson Kakatsi sub county added that as Leaders they are tasked with aligning district and sub county priorities with national programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, UWEP, and YLP to boost household incomes.
Bridging Political Divides: Bishop George K Turyasingura of East Rwenzori diocese also stressed that there is a push to end internal conflicts and the politicization of service delivery, with calls for unity among leaders (including NRM and opposition members) to focus on providing services to the public.
