Kasese – Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has urged National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders and opinion leaders in Kasese District to remain united, disciplined, and focused on consolidating the party’s achievements as the country heads toward the 2026 general elections.

Tayebwa, who was accompanied by NRM First National Vice Chairperson Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo and Western Region Vice Chairperson Eng. Jonard Mugisha, spent the day in Kasese engaging party opinion leaders in a series of consultative meetings aimed at assessing the party’s progress and strengthening its structures at the grassroots.

He said the NRM government’s record of service delivery in Kasese was “undeniably impressive,” citing the district’s annual government allocations exceeding UGX 100 billion. He revealed that Kasese District and Kasese Municipality have already received over UGX 65 billion under the Parish Development Model (PDM) alone.

“Over 118,000 youth in Kasese have benefited from the Emyooga program. There are also ongoing piped water projects and other infrastructure developments being implemented, all courtesy of the NRM government,” Tayebwa noted.

He called on leaders to rise above divisive politics and identity-based mobilization, describing such tendencies as “backward and non-developmental.”

“We must shun politics of identity and intrigue. Our focus should be on service delivery and mobilizing for the party’s continued success,” Tayebwa emphasized.

The Deputy Speaker commended the district for improving President Museveni’s performance in the last elections, noting that the NRM candidate garnered 58% of the vote in 2021, up from the 2016 tally.

With renewed commitment from the local leadership, Tayebwa expressed optimism that Kasese is on course for an overwhelming victory for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming elections.

“If we double our efforts in spreading the NRM gospel, come January next year, it will be a landslide victory for our presidential candidate and the entire NRM team,” he said.

The engagement ended with a call to all NRM cadres to maintain unity, discipline, and dedication as key pillars in defending and advancing the party’s achievements in the region
