President Museveni has praised former Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo for his service to the country, highlighting his integrity and role in strengthening the judiciary.

Museveni made the remarks while attending a homecoming ceremony held in honour of the retired jurist in Gulu City.

The President said leaders who demonstrate integrity and commitment to national unity play an important role in building strong institutions and fostering reconciliation, particularly in regions that experienced conflict.

Museveni also used the occasion to reiterate his call for Ugandans to focus on wealth creation at the household level as a key driver of the country’s socio-economic transformation.

The President encouraged families to engage in intensive agriculture and small-scale enterprises such as poultry keeping, dairy farming, coffee growing, fruit farming and fish farming.

Owiny-Dollo retired as Chief Justice on January 18, 2026, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.

He was succeeded by his then deputy Justice Flavian Zeija.
