Police in Adjumani District are investigating a deadly attack that left three people dead and one seriously injured in the early hours of Friday in Ukusijoni Sub-county.

According to an incident report registered at Adjumani Central Police Station under CRB 191/2026, the attack occurred at around 2:30am on April 10, 2026, in Ofua East, Rubangabini Village.

The deceased have been identified as Annah Abiria, 48, and Susan Unzia, 56, both residents of Acimari East in Ewafa in Obongi District, and Karulino Mamawi, 64, a resident of Onyire Afoji in Moyo District.

Police said Karulino’s body had not yet been recovered from the bush by press time.

Pastore Moroga, 50, a peasant farmer from Iyiri Village in Ukusijoni Sub-county, survived the attack but sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Adjumani General Hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a group of unidentified assailants, believed to be members of the Acholi community, attacked residents of the Madi community using bows, arrows, and pangas before fleeing through the dense Zoka Forest.

The North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, SP Collins Asea, confirmed the incident and said security agencies have launched investigations.

He added that security forces, including the army, rescued the injured victim and are continuing to pursue other suspects still at large.

Police, together with the Ukusijoni Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officer, visited and documented the scene, while the bodies of two victims were conveyed to Adjumani General Hospital for postmortem examinations.

Authorities have appealed for calm among residents and called on local leaders from both communities to promote dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

The incident has raised concerns about recurring tensions in parts of the West Nile sub-region, with leaders calling for strengthened community engagement to prevent further violence.
