The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has finalized plans to capture and relocate dangerous crocodiles that have threatened lives of many people living at the different landing sites in Kitagwenda district.
The decision follows a petition dated 25th June 2026 spearheaded by Kitagwenda county MP Robert Mugabe alias Omutembuzi who noted despite several complaints, the Ministry of Tourism and UWA had not come to the aid of residents.
He noted that that more than twenty people had been killed by the reptiles in a period of two years but the agency despite several pleas failed to respond.
Mike Birungi, the assistant human wild life conflict officer Queen Elizabeth conservation area Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area told residents in meetings conducted at Kyengangara, Mahyoro and Bukurungo that their personnel are ready to hunt for the deadly predators and relocate them to Lake Kibwera in Queen Elizabeth national park..
Hon. Robert Mugabe the Kitagwenda MP assured residents that all their grievances will be sorted including electric fence extension and reptile relocation. He however warned the residents against illegal fishing as a means of survival.
