The Woman Member of Parliament for Kamwenge District hon.Sylivia Tumwekwatse Bahireira survived a road accident that occurred last night in Kahunge, Kamwenge District.
According to eyewitnesses, the MP’s vehicle reportedly veered off the road before overturning. Photos from the scene show the vehicle lying on its side in bushes along the roadside.
Residents and security personnel quickly responded to the scene and assisted in rescuing the occupants of the vehicle. Although the extent of any injuries has not yet been confirmed, initial reports indicate that the MP survived the crash.
Police officers from Kamwenge Central Police Station later arrived at the scene, secured the area, and towed the damaged vehicle. Investigations into the cause of the accident are now underway.
Following the incident, leaders and residents across Kamwenge District have expressed gratitude that no lives were lost and have wished the legislator a speedy recovery.
Authorities say more information will be released after an official statement is issued by the MP’s office and the Uganda Police Force.
