The Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament, Dr. Sylvia Alinitwe, has called on Christians to embrace hard work, unity, and economic empowerment as key drivers of improved household incomes and sustainable community development.
Dr. Alinitwe made the remarks while addressing worshippers at All Saints Church in Kashambya Subcounty during a thanksgiving service organized by Hon. Karungi Moreen, the LC5 Woman Councillor representing Kashambya Subcounty.
Speaking to the congregation, Dr. Alinitwe encouraged Christians to remain grateful to God while taking practical steps to improve their livelihoods. She emphasized that faith should be accompanied by hard work and commitment to income-generating activities.
“As Christians, we must thank God, but we must also work hard. Let us focus on projects that will improve our household incomes so that we can live better lives and support our families,” she said.
The legislator commended the people of Kashambya for their spirit of unity and mutual support, noting that community cooperation is essential for social and economic transformation. She urged residents to take advantage of government and community development programs designed to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods.
Dr. Alinitwe highlighted several initiatives she has championed across the district, including the distribution of coffee seedlings and the establishment of village savings groups. She said the programs are intended to strengthen household incomes, promote financial inclusion, and drive sustainable grassroots development.
Hon. Karungi Moreen expressed gratitude to the congregation, local leaders, and well-wishers who attended the thanksgiving service. She described the occasion as an opportunity to thank God for His blessings and to appreciate the continued support she receives from the people of Kashambya.
The thanksgiving ceremony attracted local leaders, church members, and residents from across Kashambya Subcounty, who gathered in celebration and fellowship.
