Kitagwenda District LC5 Chairperson Ephrance Kenyonyozi has challenged the contractor undertaking the construction of a three-classroom block and ten-stance pit latrines at Mahyoro Secondary School to complete the project on time and ensure quality work.

Kenyonyozi made the call during the launch of the project in Mahyoro Town Council, Kitagwenda District, urging the contractor to adhere to the terms of the contract and hand over the facilities within the agreed period.

The project, being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Sports through the Kitagwenda District Education Department, includes five latrine stances for boys and five for girls, aimed at improving the school’s learning environment and sanitation.

The launch was presided over by Kitagwenda Resident District Commissioner Isaiah Byarugaba Kanyamahane, who commended the parents who initiated the school and called on the community to support its development.

Kanyamahane also urged the public to cooperate with school authorities and disregard misinformation about the school, saying false information could undermine efforts to develop the institution.

The Ministry of Education and Sports engineer in charge of the Tooro Region, Aggrey Akankwasa, said the project is expected to be completed within six months, with no extension to the contract period.

Mahyoro Secondary School headteacher Denis Baguma welcomed the government intervention, saying the new facilities will significantly improve the school’s learning environment.
