The Mayor of Kitagwenda Town Council, Hon. Patrick Turyamureeba Payi, has been assigned a key role in preparations for the burial of the late Tooro King, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
According to a communication from the Central Organising Committee for the King’s burial, Mayor Payi will coordinate the mobilisation and sourcing of food from Kitagwenda District to support the burial arrangements.
He will undertake the responsibility alongside Sam Mugisa the Kitagwenda county chief.
In the communication, the organising committee informed Mayor Payi that he had been selected to coordinate food mobilisation from the district in collaboration with Mugisa.
The assignment is expected to involve mobilising food contributions from well-wishers, leaders and members of the community across Kitagwenda District.
Mayor Payi has acknowledged the assignment and pledged to work towards its successful execution.
Meanwhile, the official burial programme for the late King Oyo is yet to be communicated by the Tooro Kingdom.
