Community Sustainable Initiative Link, COSIL, has distributed more than 7,000 indigenous tree seedlings to farmers and institutions in Ntara Sub-county, Kitagwenda County.
The initiative is aimed at promoting environmental conservation, sustainable farming and community resilience to climate change.
COSIL official Enock Ayebare says the organisation plans to distribute 20,000 indigenous tree seedlings to communities every year as part of efforts to encourage tree planting and environmentally friendly farming practices.
COSIL extension worker Julius Tukamuhebwa says more than 250 farmers and institutions, including primary schools, received the seedlings.
The initiative has been welcomed by Ntara Sub-county LC3 Chairperson Mikdad Byamukama Mosh, who commended COSIL for promoting environmental conservation, household incomes and agro-ecological farming practices.
