The planned visit of the Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, and the Deputy Attorney General, Hon. Jackson Kafuuzi, to Kitagwenda District has been postponed.
The two ministers were scheduled to visit the district on Friday, October 9, 2026, to assess the condition of roads and discuss efforts to improve road infrastructure in the area.
According to Kitagwenda County Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Mugabe, who was expected to host the ministers, the visit was postponed after President Yoweri Museveni assigned Byamukama to officiate at Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations at the Ugandan Embassy in Dubai on the same day.
Mugabe said Byamukama had assured him that a new date for the visit would be communicated immediately after his return from Dubai. He added that the visit is still expected to take place within October.
“I will communicate the new date as soon as it is confirmed. We remain committed to pushing for the tarmacking of our roads,” Mugabe said.
The postponement comes amid growing concern among residents over the poor condition of roads in Kitagwenda. Many had hoped that the ministerial visit would help accelerate government plans to tarmac the district’s major roads, which serve as key links for communities and businesses.
Residents will now have to wait for the new date as they continue to call for urgent government intervention to improve road connectivity in the district.
