A total of 140 parish and sub-county councillors, sub-county chiefs and town clerks from Buyanja Constituency in Kibaale District are undergoing a three-day induction training aimed at improving leadership and service delivery.

The training, organised by the Ministry of Local Government, started on Monday at Bwamiramira Sub-county headquarters in Kibaale Town Council and ends today, Wednesday.

Robert Sendegeya, the team leader of facilitators, says the programme is part of a nationwide initiative to equip lower local government leaders with skills in decentralisation, government wealth creation programmes, legislation and effective leadership.

He has urged participants to actively engage in the training and apply the knowledge acquired to address the needs of their communities.

Meanwhile, the participants have welcomed the initiative, saying it will strengthen their leadership capacity, improve their ability to lobby for development programmes and enhance service delivery.
