More than 20 underprivileged learners in Kamwenge District have benefited from a bursary scheme established by Kamwenge College School to support bright students from financially challenged families.

The programme targets academically promising learners from primary schools in Kamwenge District and neighbouring areas who are unable to afford school fees.

Speaking to our reporter, the Deputy Head Teacher of Kamwenge College School, Blazio Turamye, said the bursary scheme was introduced two years ago to ensure that talented learners are not denied an education because of financial constraints.

Turamye explained that, in addition to receiving financial support, beneficiaries are assigned holiday tasks at the school as part of their contribution towards the bursary programme.

The school says it remains committed to supporting vulnerable learners and expanding access to quality education within the district.
