Former students of Kagongo Secondary School returned to their alma mater on Friday for a colourful reunion and fundraising event aimed at improving the school’s learning environment.
The gathering brought together alumni from different generations, who joined hands to raise funds for the installation of window glass in classrooms, a long-standing challenge that has affected both teaching and learning.
Among the notable alumni in attendance was Hon. Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama, who expressed joy at reconnecting with former classmates while contributing to a cause that will directly benefit current students.
“As my contribution, I donated UGX 2 million and also purchased two netballs and two footballs to support the students,” Hon. Kaliisa said after the event.
The fundraising campaign seeks to replace broken and missing classroom window panes, which have left learners exposed to dust, cold weather and constant distractions during lessons.
Beyond infrastructure, the event also highlighted the importance of sports in student development. Hon. Kaliisa’s donation of two footballs and two netballs was welcomed as a boost to the school’s co-curricular programmes.
Organisers praised the alumni for demonstrating a strong commitment to giving back to their former school, noting that such initiatives help create a better learning environment for future generations.
The fundraising campaign remains ongoing, with alumni hopeful of completing the classroom window glass installation across the school before the end of the current term.
