Hoima City Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Nyakato Asinansi has launched the construction of seven boreholes across Hoima City in a major effort to improve access to clean, safe, and reliable water for residents affected by persistent water shortages.
The boreholes will be constructed in the communities of Ruyanja, Rusembe, Karongo, and Buhanika, where they are expected to provide thousands of residents with a dependable source of clean water and improve sanitation and public health.
Speaking during the launch, Hon. Nyakato said the project is part of her continued commitment to improving the welfare of the people of Hoima City through better access to essential social services.
She noted that over the past five years, she has facilitated the construction of more than 10 boreholes and the renovation of over 40 existing boreholes, significantly expanding access to safe water across the city.
Hon. Nyakato expressed appreciation to UMA Uganda for partnering with her office to support the initiative, saying the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving the lives of local communities.
“I thank our friends from UMA Uganda for supporting our communities with these boreholes. Together, we are addressing the water challenges faced by our people, and we look forward to strengthening this partnership to deliver even more development initiatives,” she said.
Residents welcomed the project, describing it as a timely intervention that will reduce the burden of walking long distances in search of water while improving household hygiene, sanitation, and overall quality of life.
The seven-borehole project adds to Hon. Nyakato Asinansi’s growing record of community development initiatives aimed at expanding access to essential services and improving the livelihoods of residents across Hoima City.
