Bukurungo Secondary School in Kitagwenda District has received a financial boost after the area Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Mugabe, handed over 6.4 million shillings to clear salary arrears for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
The arrears date back to the school’s first year of operation, with the support expected to ease a long-standing financial burden on the institution.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Honourable Mugabe said that supporting teachers is an investment in the future of learners, noting that motivated staff are essential for improving the quality of education.
The legislator also pledged to lobby for at least 10 computersfrom theNational Information Technology Authority–Uganda (NITA-U) to strengthen ICT infrastructure and promote digital learning at the school.
The gesture has been warmly welcomed by teachers, parents and learners, who described it as timely support for the growing institution.
Moses Nkundabize the LC3 chairperson Bukurungo town council described Mugabe as the only leader who is meeting public expectations compared to previous ones.
