Kamwenge PLU Leaders Endorse Muhoozi for 2031 Presidency

Leaders and supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Kamwenge District have endorsed General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their preferred candidate for the presidency in the 2031 general elections.

The endorsement was made yesterday during a PLU mobilisation and engagement meeting in Kamwenge, where party leaders rallied supporters to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2031 elections.

Joseph Karungi, the PLU Deputy Coordinator for the Tooro Sub-region, assured supporters that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba would receive overwhelming support from the people of the region if he chooses to contest for the presidency in 2031.

Karungi urged PLU supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s mobilisation activities, saying the movement must continue building its presence at the grassroots.

Meanwhile, Leo Asiimwe and Fai Birungi, the PLU coordinators in Kamwenge District, said they have set a target of collecting 5,000 signatures in support of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The coordinators said the signature drive is part of their efforts to demonstrate grassroots support for Muhoozi and strengthen PLU structures across Kamwenge.

They called on supporters and residents sympathetic to the movement to participate in the mobilisation exercise and help the district achieve its target.

The endorsement also received backing from Kamwenge District Resident Commissioner Africano Aharikundira and Major General Charles Kisembo, who described General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a hopeful candidate for the 2031 presidency.

Their remarks added momentum to the growing mobilisation by PLU supporters in the district, with leaders urging members to focus on building strong grassroots structures ahead of the next general elections.

The Kamwenge mobilisation is part of wider activities by PLU leaders across different parts of the country aimed at expanding the movement’s grassroots networks and rallying support for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

With the 2031 elections still several years away, PLU leaders in Kamwenge say they intend to use the period to organise supporters, expand their structures and build what they describe as a strong political base for their preferred presidential candidate.
