NRM LC1, lC2 chairpersons and special interest groups in Bufunda Division, Ibanda Municipality, have agreed to form an association aimed at strengthening unity, promoting development and providing mutual support among local party leaders.
The resolution was reached during a meeting held at Hills View Gardens in Bufunda Ward and chaired by Bufunda Division NRM Chairperson, Herbert Kusiima.
Kusiima said the proposed association will provide a platform through which LC1 chairpersons can work together to address challenges affecting their communities while also promoting the social and economic development of its members.
He said the initiative is intended to strengthen cooperation among local leaders and create a coordinated approach to issues affecting residents at the grassroots.
The NRM Vice Chairperson for Ibanda Municipality said the association would also provide an avenue for promoting transparency and accountability in the implementation of government programmes.
According to the vice chairperson, bringing the local leaders together could enable them to monitor government projects in their respective areas more effectively and help identify cases of misuse of public resources and corruption.
The leaders said greater cooperation among LC1 chairpersons would be important in ensuring that development programmes reach their intended beneficiaries.
Fred Banywana, the Deputy Mayor of Ibanda Municipality, welcomed the initiative, saying the association would enable the chairpersons to collectively address challenges affecting their communities rather than dealing with them individually.
Banywana said the platform could strengthen collaboration among local leaders and enhance their ability to identify and respond to common challenges within Bufunda Division.
Banywana also used the meeting to call on the chairpersons to support and endorse Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency in the 2031 elections.
His call forms part of the political discussions among NRM leaders as the party prepares for future electoral activities.
The proposed association is expected to bring together NRM LC1 and2 chairpersons in Bufunda Division under a common platform focused on cooperation, development and mutual support.
