Kamwenge District LCV Chairman Joseph Karungi has urged beneficiaries of government livelihood programs to properly invest the funds they receive in the projects for which they applied.

Karungi made the call on Monday during the disbursement of 223 million shillings to 36 women groups and 80 million shillings to youth groups at Kamwenge District headquarters.

He said the government has continued to support women and youth with seed capital to enable them establish and expand income-generating activities.

According to Karungi, Kamwenge District Local Government has, since 2021, disbursed one billion shillings to 139 women groups under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme, while 86 billion shillings has been disbursed to 160 Youth Livelihood Programme groups.

Karungi thanked President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government for supporting communities through livelihood and enterprise development programs.

He cautioned the beneficiaries against diverting the funds, urging them to invest the money in the agricultural and business projects for which it was provided.

Karungi also encouraged the women beneficiaries to use the funds to strengthen their household incomes and improve their livelihoods.
