Outspoken Kitagwenda County MP elect Robert Mugabe alias Omutembuzi has stated that it will not be easy for his political opponents to challenge his 2026 General Election victory in court if their strategy remains focused solely on demonising him.

“Those who are focusing on attacking my character are forgetting that I am a beloved figure among voters.

Abas Agaba Mugisha, whom Mugabe defeated in the 2026 elections by a margin of 23056, has challenged the declaration of Mugabe Robert by the Electoral Commission as the duly elected Member of Parliament following the January 15, 2026 polls.

Through the petition, Mugisha is seeking several court declarations, including that the respondent was not validly registered as a voter, does not possess the required academic qualifications, and was not eligible for nomination or election. He is also asking the court to set aside the election results.

Robert Mugabe, however, says the petition is just intended to malice and harasses his reputation and is against development of Kitagwenda County.

Speaking during the way of the cross prayers Kicwamba Catholic parish Mugabe asked religious leaders and Christians to join in in praying against the end of selfishness and witch hunt among some political figures who seek self-interests, a factor that has made Kitagwenda lag behind.
