The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has officially deployed a countrywide network of coordinators to spearhead campaign activities for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The list of appointed coordinators, covering district, sub-regional, and regional levels, was formally submitted to the NRM Secretariat by PLU National Vice Chairman, Mr. Michael Niwagira Kaguta, popularly known as Toyota.
According to Mr. Niwagira, the deployment marks the start of an extensive grassroots mobilization drive aimed at consolidating support for President Museveni and strengthening NRM structures across the country.
“These coordinators will play a critical role in mobilizing support, coordinating campaign activities, and ensuring effective communication between PLU and NRM structures,” Mr. Niwagira said. “PLU stands firmly behind the leadership of President Museveni, and this team will ensure every district and community is actively involved in the campaign.”
The PLU Secretariat explained that appointments were made based on loyalty, organizational capacity, and proven mobilization skills. Coordinators will immediately begin sensitization programs and voter outreach initiatives in their respective areas.
The team will also collaborate closely with local NRM chairpersons, Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), and youth leaders to harmonize strategies and ensure the campaign message is effectively delivered.
“Our structure ensures smooth communication from the regional level down to villages, making it easier to coordinate logistics and monitor progress,” a statement from the PLU Communications Desk read. “We are now fully deployed to take the message of stability, peace, and continuity to every corner of Uganda.”
Political analysts view the deployment as a significant step in PLU’s deepening integration within the NRM framework, positioning the organization as one of the ruling party’s strongest mobilization arms for the 2026 elections.
