Kyotera, Uganda – The Uganda Police Force has announced the untimely death of Commissioner of Police (CP) Maate Godfrey, who was serving as the Commander of Sango Bay Police operations.
In a brief statement released on Sunday, the Police said:
“We sadly announce the death of Commissioner of Police Maate Godfrey, Commander of Sango Bay Police operations. He passed away yesterday in Kyotera District.”
According to preliminary reports, CP Maate is said to have collapsed and died suddenly while in Kyotera. The cause of death is yet to be officially established.
Police spokespersons and senior officers have since expressed shock and sorrow at the loss of one of their senior commanders, describing him as a disciplined, committed, and professional officer who dedicated his life to service.
The Police Force noted that funeral arrangements and details of the postmortem report will be communicated in due course.
CP Maate’s death adds to the growing list of senior security officers who have passed on in recent months, leaving a void in the leadership of key security operations across the country.
