The ceremony, held at the Parliament Building, marks the formal start of the new legislative term following the recent general elections.

The three-day event, presided over by the Clerk to Parliament, marks the formal start of the new legislative term.

By the end of the first day yesterday, 184 MPs had taken the oath of allegiance and all 529 MPs are expected to have been sworn in by Friday.

Following the completion of the swearing-in, the newly formed parliament will hold its first session to elect a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
