Edgar Tugeineyo and John Tumukunde, both former students of Greenhill High School, have secured prestigious government merit and district quota scholarship to study at Makerere University. Edgar achieved 20 points in the BCM/ICT combination while John Tumukunde scored 19 in BCM/ICT.  Their academic excellence earned them slots through the Ministry of Education and Sports’ national merit and district quota systems.

Here are the key highlights of their inspiring journey:

Despite a humble background, Edgar Tugeineyo has long aspired to become a medical doctor. He credits his admission to sheer determination, stating,

“I worked tooth and nail, sleeping less to ensure I achieve the best points to meet government merit.”

While the merit scholarship covers tuition, the students-who describe themselves as needy but favoured, are currently soliciting additional funds to cover personal and logistical requirements before reporting for the academic year.

Edgar will be admitted to Makerere university on government merit to study medicine and surgery in the start of the August intake 2026

The two high-achievers are now awaiting final reporting instructions from Ministry of Education and Sports official channels ahead of their scheduled university reporting.

5 students from green hill high school Kamwenge were admitted on government merit while 2 on the district quota at Makerere university to study different disciplines.
