Kitagwenda District Woman MP Dorothy Nyakato Nzibonera has launched an aggressive, grassroots anti-corruption campaign to track down local officials and middlemen extorting bribes from Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries.

Her crackdown aims to protect the government’s poverty-eradication funds from exploitative Sacco leaders and parish chiefs.

The aggressive recovery strategy targets beneficiaries who have failed to pay back loans issued under parish development model empowerment initiatives and individuals who solicit bribes from PDM beneficiaries before disbursement.

Speaking in a rough tone at the thanksgiving for Patrick Turyamureba PAYI the LC3 chairperson Kitagwenda town held at Kiryanga church of Uganda parish, Nyakato noted that she still receive report about individuals who demand bribes as a pre-requisite to disburse PDM funds.

She directed top civil servants responsible to monitor PDM to investigate and hold culprits responsible.

She added that such people disrupt the progress of government programs.
