Farmers in Ibanda and surrounding districts are set to receive commercial coffee training to transition from subsistence farming to profitable, large-scale cash crop production.
These initiatives—driven by the Uganda specialist Coffee growers’ initiative cover everything from climate-smart agronomy and pruning to post-harvest handling and financial management.
The training which will take place on June 28th 2026 at NBK Hotel in Ibanda town, coffee farmers, equipping them with skills, financing, and enterprise support across the coffee value chain.
According to Agrrey Atamba one of the initiators of training said the commercial conference will involve experts who will train farmers in standard Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) to meet international commercial standards.
He added that teaching farmer’s record-keeping, collective marketing, and how to negotiate better contracts for commercial coffee is also key.
