Abaine Jonathan Buregyeya, a senior practicing advocate at Abaine-Buregyeya & Co. Advocates, has successfully transitioned from “recreational agriculture” on his family estate to becoming a major commercial coffee farmer in Nyanga village, Mahyoro Sub-county, Kitagwenda District.
His journey from small scale-era farming to building expansive Robusta coffee plantations underscores a deep-rooted commitment to agriculture, as his family has grown their own food in Mahyoro for the past two decades.
Jonathan focuses on Robusta coffee berries due to their durability, decent screen size, and high caffeine content.
He told this publication that acres of coffee are already growing on his farm, with on-going land preparations to establish even more.
He expects to supply his upcoming harvests directly to Uganda’s expanding local café industry and premium coffee operations.
Beyond coffee, Jonathan owns a banana plantation and has active plans to introduce livestock rearing to the farm.
When he is not tending to his plantations in Kitagwenda, Jonathan returns to Kampala to manage his legal practice.
