St. John Fisher Ibanda Secondary School is set to celebrate 60 years of academic excellence with a Diamond Jubilee celebration scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, at the school grounds in Ibanda Municipality, Ibanda District.
The historic celebration will bring together thousands of Old Boys and Old Girls, parents, teachers, friends and well-wishers of the school for a day of thanksgiving and reflection on its six-decade journey since its establishment in 1966.
The celebrations will be led by the Catholic Church, with His Grace Most Rev. Lambert Bainomugisha, Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese, expected to be the main celebrant during the Thanksgiving Mass.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to attend as the Chief Guest.
Founded by the Catholic Church 60 years ago, St. John Fisher Ibanda Secondary School has established itself as a centre of discipline, faith and academic excellence, producing generations of professionals and leaders serving in Uganda and beyond.
Over the years, the school has nurtured doctors, teachers, members of the clergy, businesspeople and public servants, among other professionals.
Beyond celebrating the school’s achievements, the Diamond Jubilee is expected to provide an opportunity to mobilize resources for further development of the school’s infrastructure and academic programmes in response to the growing competition in the education sector.
The organizing committee has appealed to all Old Boys and Old Girls, parents, well-wishers and the entire Ibanda community to participate and support preparations for the celebrations.
More details about the programme and fundraising activities are expected to be announced as preparations continue.
