The newly elected LC3 chairperson Mahyoro town council Joshua Atumanya is actively prioritizing education to address the high rate of school dropouts in the area.
Speaking to our reporter in an interview Joshua noted that after taking over office next month, he will specifically tackle school dropouts by targeting landing sites, where children are often lured away from education by immediate income opportunities.
He added thatLocal leaders are conducting house-to-house mobilization, holding community dialogues, and urging parents to prioritize education over child labour at the landing sites.
Joshua hasalso vowed to work with ward councilors and police to do community policing on the value of education in the area.
