Bimbika United Football Club is intensifying preparations for its maiden appearance in the Regional League, which kicks off next month.
The Kitagwenda-based side is determined to remain competitive as it faces clubs from across the region. Under the leadership of manager Boatman Matsiko and head coach Sadam Cobra, the club has embarked on major squad adjustments to strengthen the team ahead of the new campaign.
Despite earning promotion to the Regional League, the club says it is facing serious financial challenges. Manager Boatman Matsiko told our reporter that the team is currently relying on personal contributions to finance its preparations.
Matsiko is now appealing to local leaders, well-wishers, and potential sponsors to support the club financially to enable it to compete effectively in the league.
Head coach Sadam Cobra says the club has been forced to rely mainly on amateur players because it lacks the resources to recruit experienced professional footballers.
Joshua Atumanya the LC3 chairperson Mahyoro town council and Jimmy Bainomugisha the district councillor have been able to support the team.
Meanwhile, Kitagwenda District Member of Parliament Robert Mugabe has pledged to support the team before it travels for its Regional League fixtures.
Bimbika United will be representing Kitagwenda District in what is expected to be a highly competitive Regional League season.
