Construction of the multipurpose hall at Mwamba Secondary School in Rukiri Sub County, Ibanda District, has entered a critical stage, with roofing works now underway.
The development was confirmed on Friday by the school head teacher, Constantine Abenawe, during an oversight visit by Ibanda South Member of Parliament John Paul Ninkusiima and Ibanda District Woman MP Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama.
The hall, which is designed to accommodate more than 800 people, is expected to provide the school with additional space for assemblies, examinations, meetings, academic activities and other functions.
Abenawe said the progress is a result of contributions from various stakeholders who have supported the construction project.
The school has also received financial and material support from local leaders to facilitate the construction works.
Ibanda District Woman MP Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama contributed one million shillings towards the project, in addition to her previous support to the school.
Kyomukama commended the school administration for ensuring that the resources provided are put to their intended use.
Ibanda South MP John Paul Ninkusiima also contributed one million shillings towards the roofing works. He had earlier donated 200 iron sheets to support the construction of the hall.
The legislators’ contributions are expected to help the school complete the roofing phase and move closer to having the facility fully operational.
Meanwhile, School Board Vice Chairperson Angelina Kyomuhendo has appealed to parents in the area to take advantage of the available educational facilities and enrol their children at school. Kyomuhendo also called for continued support from parents and other stakeholders towards the development of the school
