The Ibanda District Education Department has released the results of the 2026 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) mock examinations, with officials reporting a slight decline in overall performance compared to last year.
The results were released yesterday at the district headquarters after a total of 4,135 Primary Seven candidates from government and private schools sat for the mock examinations.
According to the results, 196 candidates attained Division One, while 856 were in Division Two. Another 511 candidates were in Division Three, 1,063 in Division Four, while 1,506 candidates were ungraded.
Kicuz Sub-County recorded no candidate in Division One.
The Ibanda District Inspector of Schools, Benon Bakeijagye, said the district’s performance was slightly lower than that of last year.
Bakeijagye urged head teachers and teachers to double their efforts and identify areas where learners need more support ahead of the final PLE examinations.
The Ibanda District Chief Administrative Officer, Kweyamba Ruhemba, commended head teachers for actively participating in the mock examinations.
He encouraged schools to strengthen teamwork among teachers and education stakeholders to improve learners’ performance.
Meanwhile, Ibanda District LCV Chairperson Happy Herbert Mayanja commended the district education department for organizing the standardized mock examinations on time.
Mayanja said the examinations give candidates an opportunity to assess their preparedness and identify areas that require improvement before sitting the final PLE.
Mwamba Junior Primary School and St. Mary’s Primary School were among the best-performing schools in the district.
Education officials have called on schools to use the mock examination results to address learners’ weaknesses and intensify preparations for the forthcoming PLE.
