Mahyoro Town Council met with locals to prepare for a new national Trade Order.
The government policy aims to clean up towns and make them organized.
Leaders asked residents to follow the rules, but locals asked for more time to find the money to fix their businesses.
The new rules will target:
Businesses on the side of the road.
Old or broken sheds.
Fruit stands in wrong spots.
Buildings that break town planning laws.
Pius Mugisha the Town Clerk asked all people to fix their shops and stands before the real clean-up starts.
Joshua Atumanyathe LC3 chairpersonreminded everyone that this is a government rule to make the town better.
He also warned police and workers to be fair and honest. He told them to not take bribes.
Residents are happy the town will get better. However, many are worried about money. They asked the Town Council for extra time. They need a grace period to get enough money to upgrade their shops to meet the new rules.
